Test Sled: 2001 SkiDoo MXZ800 with DPM
Test Temperature: 65 degrees f
Mileage on Sled: 1200 miles
Fuel: 93 Octane
Note this is all dynamometer testing done at the sled's track. Track HP is roughly 52-54% of actual crank HP output.
Image #1. Comparison of All Stock Setup (baseline) vs. Exhaust
Restricter Insert.
Stock Peak HP: 68.9hp
Peak HP with Restricter: 69.8hp, with up to 4hp gained off-peak.
The Blue line is the best of the baseline runs, all stock setup. The red curve is with the Exhaust Restricter inserted between the silencer and the pipe. Its a simple installation, and only works with the stock exhaust system. The Exhaust Restricter works well in better reflecting the exhaust pulses back into the cylinder for a more efficient burn. Simply put, the Restricter works!
Image #2. Comparison of All stock setup (baseline) versus Dynoport
Single Pipe.
Stock HP: 68.9hp
All stock with Dynoport Pipe (stock silencer): 72.2hp
In this graph, the blue line is the all stock setup (same as above).
The Red line is now the Dynoport pipe switch. There is NO RESTRICTER
installed; the only difference is the Blue line has the stock pipe and
silencer, the Red line has the Dynoport single pipe mounted to the stock
silencer. Dynoport advertised a 5 hp gain, we got a gain of 3.1hp
at the track which is about a 5.7-5.9hp gain at the crank.
Image #3. Comparison of the addition of Carbon Tech Reeds and
Fett Reed Spacers
Dynoport Pipe Only: 72.2hp
Dynoport Pipe, Carbon Tech Reed Petals, Fett Spacers: 73.8hp
We then took the sled (with the Dynoport pipe installed), and installed
Carbon Tech Reed Petals (Light Tension), and also Fett Reed Spacers.
The results were very impressive. Blue line is now the Dynoport pipe
run, and the Red Line is the Dynoport Pipe, Spacers, and Reed Petals.
1.6 peak HP gain at the track, with off-peak gains of up to 3 hp.
Image #4: Best setup vs. stock.
Stock HP: 68.9hp
Best Setup: 75.2hp
This setup includes a clutched sled. This gives you the idea
of the actual gains that you will feel after modifications. Additional
testing with a Comet primary clutch showed additional gains of 2 hp at
the track (over 77hp with the Comet installed!), but we lost the dyno curves
due to computer malfunction. With future testing we will prove the
validity of the Comet clutch, and post the dyno data here!
